Iowa State University (ISU) is implementing a train-the-trainer model to run our inclusion workshops. This has the potential to reach the scale needed for its many graduate programs across campus. It also builds the University’s capacity of STEM graduate students and faculty with more in-depth knowledge of inclusion. Dr. Becky Martinez conducted 1.5 days of training leading to 42 trained facilitators, including graduate students, postdocs, staff, and faculty. These facilitators have now conducted inclusion workshops for 10 separate groups of faculty, 6 groups of graduate students, and 2 groups of postdocs. The goals of these workshops are to increase awareness of identity, the experiences of students with different identities, and reduction of microaggressions.

ISU has also conducted 3 design thinking workshop for groups of faculty in graduate programs to decide what they wanted to do to systemically improve the climate.
